University of Pennsylvania, Graduate Student Housing Project

University of Pennsylvania, Graduate Student Housing

Ribbed metal panels were used as forms for the 16- and 22-story poured-concrete towers that make up this complex arranged around a large urban plaza at grade level. The towers are separated from each other and elevator towers by glazed connecting corridor towers. The resulting project shows hastiness in design and execution, in part because it was developed as a design-build project on a very fast schedule, which means oversights can easily occur.
