Heryford House

The Heryford House features strong lines and planes such as a wood wall that extends beyond the roof line to divide public and private entrances in an unapologetic way. A gutter runs perpendicularly to this wood wall, balancing the façade and guaranteeing water for surrounding plants. This gutter is exemplary of Neutra’s interest in architectural devices that could serve two or even three purposes. The house’s pared down palette of materials includes birch plywood, glass, horizontal redwood siding, and rustic used brick.
