Charles and Sylvie Maxwell House

Charles and Sylvie Maxwell were a violinist and composer, respectively, who were seeking out an “acoustically suitable living quarters” when they came to Richard Neutra with a budget of $6,750. Neutra positioned her practice room at the farthest location from his study. Elsewhere, the design integrates both sloping and flat roofs and introduces a glass triangle into the horizontal redwood siding.
