Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America Union Building

According to Neutra, the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America Union Building was designed to be a “new labor temple.” As he did in many of his commercial projects, Neutra used vertical aluminum louvers along the exterior façade. Inside, the space included an auditorium that accommodated 600 people. The building was decorated with furniture designed by Neutra, including magazine benches with ash slats supported by aluminum bars, and a mural by Roberto Burle Marx.
