Please join the Neutra Institute for Survival Through Design (NISTD) as we welcome Dr. John Zeisel for a presentation on the Alzheimer’s Village at Dax, France. This program is the next one in a collaborative series between the MAK Center and Neutra Institute, following “Are Neutra and Schindler Relevant A Hundred Years Later?” in May 2025.
Dr. Zeisel will share how the plan of the village reflects the special needs of villagers living there and how design and neuroscience can work together to benefit people and the planet. Richard Neutra’s legacy is more than just avant-garde modern design: it includes his ideas about biorealism. Neutra consciously incorporated elements of neuroscience and psychology into his work. Zeisel will discuss how such elements are incorporated in designs for persons living with Alzheimer’s. To learn more about Dr. Zeisel’s topic a video is provided below.
Dr. John Zeisel is an internationally known expert on dementia care and treatment innovations. Dr. Zeisel is the President of the I’m Still Here Foundation, and the co-founder and CEO of Hopeful Aging, a research and development group focused on products and processes to enhance engagement for people living with dementia. Author of I’m Still Here: A New Philosophy of Alzheimer’s Care, Dr. Zeisel has published numerous articles about treatment alternatives that do not rely on conventional pharmaceutical therapy to be effective.
