Logar Store
Logar Store
Richard Neutra’s design for a retail building housing three stores had to accommodate a restrictive covenant that called for, in his words, “an unimaginative rounded corner.” He made space for a curved bank of landscaping with a recessed section of plate glass on the ground floor. Above, the upper portion of the building is wrapped in corrugated aluminum siding. Inside, exposed steel girders taper across the ceiling, eliminating the need for interior columns. The dark paint used for these beams contrasts with the light plywood ceilings.
