Earl Brod House

Extensive correspondence between Earl Brod, Richard Neutra, and others in the architectural office demonstrates the level of attention afforded these clients. In one letter, Neutra responded to the Brods’ selection of fabric and wall colors that were in saturated hues of red and green. Instead, Netura urged them to consider how “large areas of color should be rather subdued. Otherwise they fill the room.” He used the example of “strong, lively greens,” which he argued were not to be used for “window drapes as they would devour . . . all the greenery.”
